Hans Fuhrer is the youngest 80 year old I've met. He's beaten cancer and continues to live a creative and active life in the mountains. He spends his time hiking, biking and skiing with his camera, at a pace that most people half his age could not maintain.
During this particular shoot Hans took a break from painting his house to open up his "classic" gear vault for me and his son, Martin. The equipment he used decades ago while exploring unclimbed peaks in the Canadian Rockies came to life in his hands and words--passing incredible stories and inspiration on to us.
His experience living and working in the mountains as head of Search and Rescue for Parks Canada is the topic of a short film I will be releasing in Fall 2016
