Standing Rock, North Dakota has seen a lot of controversy surrounding the DAPL (Dakota Access Pipeline), culminating in late 2016. My purpose in going to Standing Rock was an independent photography documentary assignment for my personal blog. While the majority of news coverage focused on the pipeline conflict and the social issues surrounding it, I felt inspired by the landscape and the natural elements in the area of Cannonball, ND. I hope it gives you a sense of what it was like being at Standing Rock and the beauty of the local environment.
